A REAL EMAIL
This is what Day 1 sounds like.
This is the Day 1 email. During your break, it arrives in full in your inbox: you can use it without opening My ALO.
SAMPLE · DAY 1
Start with one small part of today
The whole day can wait. You have somewhere to begin.
Day one. Your mind may already be asking about Saturday, sleep, and what happens after day 21. It has a remarkable talent for putting the entire month on today's agenda.
Let's start with one part: the first moment that usually ends with a joint. That might be waking up, closing your laptop, or finishing dinner. It doesn't have to look like anyone else's evening.
When it arrives, go to the place you prepared and spend ten minutes there. If you never opened the preparation email, here's the whole plan: move somewhere else and start something quiet you can do there. A page, a song, dinner. Pick one and begin.
The urge may come with you. Moving doesn't promise to remove it; it gives you a way through that first stretch while doing something you chose earlier. Today's intention is still not to smoke. The ten minutes help you hold that intention. They aren't a reminder to put it to another vote.
Afterward, carry on with what you're doing if it's helping. If you're still about to smoke, put your supplies out of reach if it's safe, and ask for company: “Could you talk with me for a bit?” You don't have to explain the whole month. If nobody's available, you can leave that scene for somewhere safe. You can also write to me during the published support hours to prepare another option.
And if you've already smoked, you can still take care of the next part of the day. Put what's left away if it's safe, and decide where you'll spend the next stretch. You don't have to wait until tomorrow to return to your break.
Albert · ALO
When will you try that change of place? Something as specific as “when I close my laptop” is enough.
My ALO lets you return to this day and save a note if you want. The digital edition of Abre los ojos is also included. You can start the break without reading the book first.
HUMAN REPLIES INCLUDED
If you reply, Albert continues the conversation.
Albert reads what you send and replies within one working day, Monday to Friday, 10:00–18:00 Paris time.
